Biosolids Management for Safety & Sustainability
Biosolids are a byproduct of the treatment or cleaning of sewage/wastewater. For more than 30 years, since the founding of the United States Environmental Protection Agency and dedicated funding for the construction of wastewater treatment plants, government and industry have engaged in extensive research and development to ensure the safe recycling ("beneficial use") and disposal of biosolids. The practice of "beneficial use" of biosolids has been studied more than perhaps any other public environmental practice. Below you will find some of the research and many viewpoints on the subject.
