Project Experience
LAND APPLICATION OF BIOSOLIDS
New England Organics takes great pride in our ability to develop long standing relationships with the cities and towns that we work with. Lewiston-Auburn Water Pollution Control Association (LAWPCA) is one of our finest examples of teamwork. For over twenty years New England Organics (NEO) has managed regulatory compliance, nutrient loading, and landowner relations with LAWPCA. Together we have worked to adapt the program in response to changes in regulations and occasional public opposition to land application. Today, LAWPCA owns and operates Maine’s largest in vessel agitated bin compost facility and maintains Maine’s largest “Class B” land application program. LAWPCA’s land application program has become a model in terms of environmental regulatory compliance and public acceptance. New England Organics has worked with LAWPCA and cooperating farmers to reach the goal of land applying about 10,000 cys of Class B Biosolids per year, and has maintained that goal since the 2006 field season.
SERVICE TO LARGE VOLUME GENERATORS
No client is too big or too small for the professional services of New England Organics. The Division of Sanitation in Suffolk County New York awarded a five-year contract to New England Organics for the removal of biosolids from the County’s Bergen Point Sewage Treatment Plant (STP). The facility generates about 70,000 tons of cake biosolids annually. NEO manages the transportation and disposal of this material using both standard tractor-trailer equipment and more sophisticated inter-modal (rail) transport systems. Suffolk County has acknowledged NEO’s exemplary service by giving us an A+ rating.
