Algefiber(R) is derived from red seaweed. The carrageenan found in this sea vegetable is an ingredient used in food, health, and personal care products. Algefiber (R) is the by-product of extracting carrageenan and contains organic matter and perlite, and has a physical consistency similar to store bought brown sugar. It is used to increase soil pH, as well as provide calcium, magnesium and organic matter. Additionally, the plant hormones naturally present in seaweed have been shown to help increase plant root development and promote crop growth.
